Our leadership team includes professionals with deep experience in communications strategy, design, interactive media and production. In addition, we have a close knit circle of experts, including writers, editors, information architects, photographers, illustrators and backend developers.

Our Team

  • Lynda Decker  |  Founder & Creative Director

    Lynda Decker is President and CEO of Decker Design. Since 1996, our firm has helped some of the biggest and most dynamic organizations in business influence their customers and stakeholders through expertly designed visual communications. Lynda’s unique and systematic approach to design is intellectual, inquisitive and intuitive, allowing her to fully understand clients’ business objectives, resulting in work that connects to its audience.

    Clients have responded to Lynda’s solid track record of thoroughly understanding and fulfilling their needs with decades-long relationships. And the design industry continues to recognize the achievements of our firm through numerous prestigious awards.

    A native New Yorker, Lynda holds a BFA in design from C.W. Post College in New York and an MFA from Syracuse University. She is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Design Leadership Program and studied design and cultural theory at the Cooper Union. An active member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), Lynda was a past vice president and board member for the New York chapter. She is currently participating in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program and The School of Visual Arts D-Crit program. Read her blog on design criticism, Design Tangent Journal.

  • Michael Aron  |  Design Director, Print and Interactive

    Michael has extensive experience in a wide range of communication disciplines. Before joining us, Michael served as art director at Ross, Culbert & Lavery, Inc., where his clients included Ameriprise Financial, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP. Prior to 2003, Michael was a partner in the design firm Calfo Aron LLC, which produced corporate communications, video and advertising for clients such as New York Life, Deloitte, Boston Properties and the New York Philharmonic. He also ran his own firm, Michael Aron and Company, and was an art director at the Pushpin Group. Michael attended the Academy of Fine Art and Design in Genk, Belgium, and received his BFA from the Cooper Union. He has also taught at Parsons School of Design, and lectured at the Cooper Union and NYU.

  • Connie Sargent  |  Content Strategist

    For over 25 years, Connie Sargent has developed and executed profit and non-profit marketing strategies. She has deep expertise cultivated over decades of working inside corporations, such as General Foods and CBS Television, and non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity. Connie also has worked extensively with advertising agencies from a client perspective. In addition, Connie has served on several Boards, including the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity – NYC. She currently works with the International Rescue Committee teaching English to refugees, and teaches business school students at the Fordham University Institute of American Language and Culture. Connie has an MBA from the Columbia Business School and a Master’s degree in TESOL from the New School.

  • Pookie Martin  |  Content Strategist

    Pookie Martin brings to Decker Design clients more than 20 years’ experience in brand-building and writing — and always a fresh perspective. She has worked with more than 300 companies as a writer and consultant. Before joining Decker Design, Pookie’s career included stints as Vice President, Global Communications at Chase Manhattan Bank; a Vice President at Blanc & Otus PR, Ketchum PR and Technology Solutions PR; and Account Supervisor at Wells, Rich, Greene. Pookie was born and raised in Michigan and has had a lifelong love affair with fast cars. She holds a BA in Communications from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

  • Shannon Hughes  |  Director of Production

    Managing both internal and external production teams’ resources, Shannon Hughes coordinates all major projects at Decker Design. Her deep experience extends across print, web and broadcast communications, and she has been instrumental to the success of engagements with our clients. Before joining Decker Design, Shannon served as Operations Director of MVI Post, where she managed production schedules and served as chief liaison for such clients as the Discovery Channel and the National Football League. Prior to that, she was Title Production Coordinator at Global Software Publishing, managing production teams for high-profile educational software products. Shannon is a native of Maryland. She holds a BS in Art Education from Frostburg State University.
